Making Sense of Product Reviews in PrestaShop with AI

You worked hard to collect product reviews. Now one of your best-selling products has 87 of them.

That should be great for conversion — except most customers are not going to read 87 reviews.

A 4.6-star rating helps, but it still does not answer the questions shoppers actually have.

Does the product run small?
Is the material good?
Do people keep mentioning the same problem?

The answers are probably already in the reviews. The problem is that the customer has to find them.

That is the problem I wanted to solve when I added an AI review summary to my Advanced Product Reviews module for PrestaShop.

But there was one part that turned out to be more interesting than simply generating a shorter text:

How do you summarize reviews without making them sound more certain than they really are?

One complaint can easily look bigger than it is

Imagine 40 customers say the quality is great, and one customer says the zipper broke after a week.

If the AI summary says:

Customers like the quality, but there are concerns about zipper durability.

that sounds as if zipper problems are common.

They are not.

But ignoring every rare complaint is not perfect either. Sometimes one unusual problem can still be important.

So I did not want the summary to look like the final truth about the product.

In the module, the AI-generated block gives customers a quick overview of positive points and possible concerns, while the real reviews stay directly below it.

That way, a shopper can understand the main patterns quickly and still check the individual reviews if something matters to them.

I also wanted the summary to be easy to scan

I first thought about a traditional paragraph-style summary.

But if the goal is to save the customer from reading a wall of reviews, replacing it with another wall of text is not very helpful.

So the interface uses a simple Customer reviews at a glance block.

For example, a customer might see that buyers often mention good quality and comfortable fit, while some comments mention sizing.

They do not need to read ten reviews to discover that pattern.

And if the sizing issue is important to them, the original reviews are right below.

The AI summary is also clearly marked as AI-generated. I think that matters: it tells the shopper that this is a condensed view of customer feedback, not another description written by the store.

Where this is actually useful

If a product has four reviews, there is not much reason to summarize them. The feature becomes useful when a product has enough feedback that reading everything starts to feel like work.

That is what I wanted the AI summary in Advanced Product Reviews for PrestaShop to do: help customers understand a long review section faster, while keeping the original reviews right below.
